The molecular formula of maleic anhydride is C24H32O5, and its molecular weight is 400.51. Reddish brown flaky amorphous transparent solid, relative density 1.143. Melting point 226~227℃. Softening point 101~132℃. The acid value is 224~226mgKOH/g. Soluble in acetone, ethyl acetate , dichloroethane , insoluble in ethanol and solvent gasoline . Maleic acid and fumaric acid can also react with rosin to produce maleic acid rosin and fumaric acid rosin. The quality of maleated rosin produced by using maleic acid instead of maleic anhydride is equivalent to that of Maleated rosin. Only the acid value and softening point are slightly lower, but the cost is reduced by 10% to 15%.

General uses: It can be used as a strengthening sizing agent in the paper industry. The latex liquid has good stability and is less affected by temperature, which can solve the difficulty of sizing in summer. When making paper, the application of settling agent can be reduced accordingly and the cost of paper can be reduced. At the same time, it can also form esters with polyols, such as Maleated rosin glycerol and Maleated rosin pentaerythritol ester, which are important raw materials for the production of paints, inks, and adhesives.

Storage and transportation: It should be stored in a cool place, away from high temperatures, away from fire, and away from oxidants.
